Feb. 20th 1979.
My dear Son,
Just had your letter & snaps today, you look great — as always.
I am so happy, when you are dear & glad you are meeting old friends & enjoying yourself, &
keeping well.
Nothing's changed here, the weather terrible, blizzards, floods, freezing fog & ice, & strikes
still raging.[1] It's all so depressing. I sit here, bodging
away,!! & thinking of the
paint I'll slosh about & the gardening I'll do etc, when the sun shines, I know damn well I'm just dreaming.
How dare you get sunburnt, I long to feel the warmth of the sun & at the moment would risk burning
the skin off me, its so cold & grey.
We miss you very much & Tess is counting the weeks till you return. Please give my regards to the
Chans for taking care of you, they are good people.
This is all your post dear, up to date, don't worry about the postage. I've paid the bills as follows.
£81-50 the heater, £73-12 Electricity,

some silky material, froggies,
