For the first few months of this year I was doing contract computer systems work in London, renting an apartment in Bloomsbury. Most of this contract work (February to October) was for Marathon Oil, who had an administrative office in Marylebone, supporting their North Sea oil rigs.
In early October I moved to northeast China to lecture at Siping Teachers' College (四平师范学院).
- Birthdays: My father was 83 in July, my mother 70 in March, my brother Noel was 52 in January, my sister Judith 39 in September. Judith's daughter Tessa was 15 in September; Judith's son Marcus was five in January. I was 37 in June.
- Hatched, matched, detached, dispatched: My great-nephew James was born December 23, first son of Robert, my brother Noel's older boy. This was my parents' first great-grandchild.
