The letters linked to from this page were written to me by my parents in 1974. I was living in New Rochelle, New York until June, when I moved to Elmsford, New York. For the first three months of the year I was doing kitchen work for a catering firm in New Rochelle. In April I went to work as a computer programmer for Savin Business Machines of Valhalla, New York.

• Birthdays:  My father was 75 in July, my mother 62 in March, my brother Noel was 44 in January, my sister Judith 31 in September. Judith's daughter Tessa, my niece, was 7 in September. I was 29 in June.

• Hatched, matched, detached, dispatched:  Eddie Jones, Auntie Polly's husband, died January 14. Uncle Joe, my mother's second brother, died at the end of January, aged 75 or 76.
