My dear Son,

Will you please write or phone when you've read this as flights for these dates are already being booked. I must know if my coming is convenient to you, as once I've committed myself, any cancellation means loss of money. I have to get a passport renewal & a visa, & photographs & possibly vaccination & book at least 60 days before flight. So, the dates, (though not vital) I propose to come are as follows  June 21st to July 16th — 21 days — travelling — I think on a Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday. I have to put £30 +£6 Insurance when I book, but I won't do this till I know its O.K. by you. I'm quite excited about it & the longing to see you again. It's now or never. I may not be able as I get older!! Now do let me know as soon as possible so that I can go ahead.

I went to see "Jaws" last week, I'd already read the story & seen just as horrible wounds from bombs during the war, but of course, its the fear & tension that builds up around the shark that makes it horrifying. "Earthquake" is coming so I shall go & see that, I only have to pay 25p as an O.A.P. as opposed to 90p advert. price now at the old "Savoy," now the only cinema left in N'hants. Tess now goes to gymnastics, so I have bought her a leotard, she looks great & amuses us with her exercises. There's a Xmas card for you from Gary & wife. I'll call & give Mrs Gotch your adress to send on to them.

We had a surprize visitor last Friday evening, Cousin Terry called. We hadn't seen him for 11 years & had a very pleasant evening. We had terrific gales that evening & a great deal of damage caused, otherwise quite mild for January. We are all well & trust you are. Now do answer quickly love, else I shall think you've disowned me. I don't want to arrive & find you've taken to the hills.!! Oh! would it affect you in any way if I give your name & adress as I'm asked to do on the visa form. I'm thinking of your visa situation. Longing to see you & hoping it won't be long. Do write quickly & answer all these questions. Love you
