My darling Son,
I want you to do something for me, if you can. It is this. I have told you
Ginny ordered some china here & left £100 deposit. At Xmas
she asked me to cancel the
order & see if she could have her money back. Well, I have been to
Church's & Tom wrote to
them & today Mr Church finally said O.K he would send them a cheque. In the meantime Ginny sent me a cheque for $190 (£109) to pay the rest & the shipping of the
china if she could not get her money back. This was after Xmas. Can you give her a cheque for
$190 for me & I will give you
the £109 when you come home. This is not a soft touch, love, Dad doesn't approve of me asking you, I just thought
it would be simpler! However,
if you can't love, you've only to let me know & I will get my bank to do it. The sterling would help you when you
come. Do let me know soon
though I'm worrying about it.!! It's bitterly cold with biting winds. We are longing to know when you are coming,
love.
How is your new
accommodation? All is well here. We are gardening bit by bit & I am hoping to get the kitchen painted before you
come & some new stuff on the
kitchen floor. We went to Judy's Easter Sunday[1] & Robert
(Noel's son) & his
fiancé came Easter Monday. Rob wants to know when you come. I hope you won't look upon this request as an
imposition John, I honestly don't
intend it to be. Just let me know. Love to Louise Jay,
Mary & anyone else interested. We are waiting with bated breath to
hear from you. You would love
the garden now, it really looks lovely, I'm hoping to get some geraniums in when the Spring flowers have finished. All
send their love. Do write
soon.
Love you as always,
Mother
Just imagine, this time last year I was counting the weeks to June
18th & sewing
madly. I've put a lot of my weight back on, I'm furious with myself!! A bit rheumaticy, but otherwise we're both
fine.
