Notes
- The card is postmarked from the Isle of Wight, a popular place for vacations, off the south coast of England. Presumably Mum had gone there with some friends, perhaps Jean Isherwood. The drawing on the front of the card is based (loosely) on the Needles, a row of picturesque rocks at the western end of the island, with a lighthouse.
- "Mod. cons" is real-estate slang in England: "modern conveniences."
