Either the July 15 letter or the previous, undated, one to Nellie is the last letter from my mother to survive in my files.

Birthdays: My mother was 85 in March, my brother Noel was 67 in January, my sister Judith 54 in September. Judith's daughter Tessa was 30 in September; Judith's son Marcus was 20 in January. I was 52 in June. Our daughter Nellie was four years old in January, our son Danny was two in July.
